The collective scientific institute of the academies of Hannover officially has a name: NIFE - Niedersächsisches Zentrum für Biomedizintechnik, Implantatforschung und Entwicklung (Lower Saxony Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Development). The foundation of NIFE took place on the 12th of August in the year 2008.
The Lower Saxony Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Development (NIFE) in Hannover takes the region and German state Lower Saxony into the international focus and spotlight as one of the leading facilities of biomedical research and development.
NIFE has recently been founded by the Hannover Medical School (MHH), the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Foundation (TiHo), and the Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH) in cooperation with the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH).It is the goal of NIFE to connect the transdisciplinary research and development in Lower Saxony.
NIFE's work places special emphasis on implant research.The manifold skills and cooperations of research units operating in biomedial engineering and the resulting synergies are to be used more efficiently in the development of innovative implants.
